U2 ‘to lose £100m over axed tour’
U2 could lose up to £100 million after cancelling their world tour, it has been reported.
The Irish band were forced to pull out of 17 US dates along with a headlining slot at Glastonbury after Bono had emergency back surgery.
He was admitted to hospital suffering from partial paralysis and is said to be “heartbroken” about the tour.
A source told The Sun: “Bono and the band are covered by insurance but the cost of overheads and missed revenue could easily reach £100 million by the time he’s fit enough to perform again.”
Their manager Paul McGuinness added that the tour was on hold but still cost the group half a million pounds a day.
He said: “If we play or not, touring still costs us £500,000 a day.”
