Religion Briefs: Church to hold U2-inspired worship series

U2-inspired worship series scheduled
The River contemporary worship service at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 3715 Youree Drive, Shreveport, will offer a worship series inspired by the music of the rock band U2.
“Walk On: Exploring the Christian Journey Through the Music of U2″ will examine the Christian faith through the band’s songs at 11 a.m. each Sunday from July 18 through Aug. 22.
Weekly themes include: “In the Name of Love,” Sunday; “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” July 25; “With or Without You,” Aug. 1; “Where the Streets Have No Name,” Aug. 8; and “It’s a Beautiful Day,” Aug. 15.
The final service on Aug. 22 will be a “U2charist” service, with The River Praise Band leading worship.

Church schedules gospel benefit concert
Shoes for the Homeless Gospel Benefit concert will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 7 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 4670 Lakeshore Drive, Shreveport.
Featured performers include gospel recording artist Jerard Woods, soloist Joseph Lindsey and Jerry Maiden Jr. and the Community Choir.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and are available at the church and Flynn’s Eternal Life, 3655 W. College St., Shreveport.
